VIDALIA, La. – Jury selection will begin today in the trial of four men accused of robbing a Ferriday furniture store and a Vidalia restaurant with machine guns.

The trial will be held before Judge Leo Boothe in Seventh Judicial District Court in Vidalia. The four pleaded not guilty May 24 before Boothe to charges stemming from the April 3 robbery of Pizza Hut and the April 4 robbery of Ezy Pay Furniture.

As far as the trial is concerned, &uot;I’m fired up and ready to go,&uot; said Assistant District Attorney Ronnie McMillan. &uot;But I’ll do all my talking in court.&uot;

Ferriday attorney Derrick Carson of the public defender’s office, who will represent the four men in court, could not be reached for comment.

Those scheduled to stand trial today include:

— Tyrone Banks, 23, of 637 Edward Drive in Memphis, on charges of armed robbery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon (two counts), aggravated flight from an officer and possession of crack cocaine.

— Tony Banks, 23, of 637 Edward Drive in Memphis, on charges of armed robbery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, flight from an officer and possession of crack cocaine.

— Stanton E. Easley, 41, of 2406 25th St. in Nashville, on charges of armed robbery, possession of firearm by a convicted felon, flight from an officer, possession of a controlled substance and aggravated battery.

— Antonio Hawkins, 21, of 500 Sycamore St. in Vidalia, on charges of possession of crack cocaine and flight from an officer as well as armed robbery in connection with the Ezy Pay robbery.
