Weird week for Natchez softball team

Things have been a little odd for the Natchez High Lady Bulldogs softball team so far this season.
Last Thursday, two Jim Hill players collided in the infield and were hospitalized, which caused the game to be called after 3 2/3 innings with Natchez winning 13-0.
On Tuesday, Natchez was scheduled to play against Amite County at the Natchez Girls Softball Complex, with the junior varsity game starting at 5 p.m. followed by the varsity game at 6 p.m.
Then something strange happened – Amite County was a no-show.
Just what exactly happened?
&uot; They were waiting for us, and we were waiting for them,&uot; said Natchez softball head coach Sue Johnson.
Johnson said Amite County coach Ernest Dunlap did not have a schedule from Natchez High, which may have caused the misunderstanding. &uot; This won’t happen again. I promise you that,&uot; Johnson added.
Amite County was late arriving in Natchez last year for its contest with the Lady Bulldogs.
However, despite the no-show by Amite County, neither the JV team nor the varsity team has won its game by forfeit – yet.
&uot; It’s not a win until we talk with the Activities Association,&uot; Johnson said.
So right now, Natchez’s JV softball team is still 1-0 and the varsity team is still 4-3.
Natchez High plays at Amite County at 6 p.m. Sept. 21. The Lady Bulldogs play next at Loyd Star Thursday starting with the JV game at 5 p.m. followed by the varsity game at 6 p.m.
