Teen shot in fight in Natchez

A Natchez teenager was shot in the back and another man was beaten Friday night during a fight at Holiday Apartments on Old Washington Road.
As of late Saturday afternoon, Anthony Haywood, 14, of 214 Oakhill Drive, was still being held for observation at Natchez Regional Medical Center for a gunshot wound to the back.
Levender Williams, 21, of 11 Reba Christian Road, was treated and released from Natchez Regional for bruises sustained in the fight.
At 11 p.m. Friday, Natchez police were called to investigate a fight and shots fired at the apartment complex. Officers found Haywood and Williams at the scene.
&uot;But neither one said they had any idea who shot (Haywood), and they don’t want to talk,&uot;&160;said Police Chief Willie Huff.
Huff said he is not sure what started the fight, which involved several people.
&uot;Residents of the apartment complex said none of the people involved lived at the complex, and no one was sure why they were there,&uot;&160;he said.
The case is still under investigation.
