As of Sunday afternoon, authorities were still working to positively identify a man who died early Sunday morning in an accident on Cranfield Road.
The accident happened at about 2:50 a.m. Sunday when a 1980 Chevrolet pickup truck the man was driving left the road and struck a light pole and two parking vehicles before hitting a tree and bursting into flames.
&uot; The truck was completely engulfed when deputies arrived,&uot; said Major John Manley of the Adams County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies have tentatively identified the driver, who is thought to be from Franklin County.
But the person’s name is being withheld pending positive identification from dental records by the State Medical Examiner’s Office, Manley said. He was not sure as of Sunday when the results of such tests are expected.
