The women’s doubles team of Karen Blane and Augusta Smith won a pair of easy matches Saturday en route to advancing to the finals of the Women’s 3.5-4.0 Round Robin division at the Cathedral Fall Festival Tennis Tournament at Duncan Park.

Blane and Smith advanced to the semifinals with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Libby Ford and Mimi Close, then advanced to today’s finals with a convincing 6-2, 6-0 win over Sally Jones and Peggy Mayberry.

Blane and Smith will face Weasie Mallory and Kate Ferguson, who defeated Ford and Close in the semifinals, 6-4, 6-0.

In the Women’s 3.0 division, Marla Beard and Katie Raw advanced to the semifinals with a 5-7, 6-4, 7-6 win over Susan Kettering and Katie Mahony.

Their opponents in the semifinals will be Caren Jones and Lisa Jordan, who defeated Cathy Cook and Patty Prescott, 7-5, 6-4 in the quarterfinals.

The winner of the Beard/Raw vs. Jones/Jordan match will face Emily Eidt and Brenda Johnson in the finals.

In the Women’s 2.5 division, Lisa Moise and Nancy McLemore advanced to the finals with an easy 6-1, 6-2 win over Tammy Mulligan and Tatia Webber.

Moise and McLemore will face Allison Cupit and Susan Blackburn, who defeated Susie Ater and Liz Farmer. No score for that match was available.

In the Men’s 3.5-4.0 division, Pat Caldwell soundly defeated Patrick Brown and Austin O’Brian, 6-1, 6-0 to advance to the finals, where they will face Michael Blain and Michael Tims, who defeated Mark Carter and Chris Masters, 6-3, 7-6.

In the Mixed 3.5 division, Michael Blain and Karen Blain defeated Cynthia Brumfield and Donald Jones, 5-7, 6-1, 6-1 to advance to the semifinals, where they will take on O’Brian and Linda Dollar, who defeated Kathy Sizemore and Daniel Dillard, 6-4, 6-2.

In the other semifinals, Close and Jason Hicks will go up against Simmons Iles and Masters. Close and Hicks defeated Debra Bassi in the quarterfinals (no score available) while Iles and Masters defeated Ava Kanoy and Carter, 6-4, 6-4.

In the Mixed 3.0 division, Mahony and Walt Brown will face Lisa Sandel and Frank D’Antoni Mahony and Brown defeated Debby Johnson and Andrew Ketchings 6-0, 6-1 in the quarterfinals while Sandel and D’Antoni defeated Donna Jenkins and Ron Tucker, 7-6, 6-1.

In the other semifinals, Mary Ann Carter and Joe Garrity will go up against Amy Jones and Walt Brown.
