MONROE, La. — The only thing pouring down harder than the rain Friday were Ouachita Christian touchdowns as the Monroe team bombed the Vidalia Vikings 58-0.
&uot;It was an old-fashioned butt-kicking,&uot; Vidalia coach Dee Faircloth said. &uot;They destroyed us.&uot;
Vidalia held Ouachita to only two points in the first quarter, but gave up 35 in the second quarter alone.
Ouachita was not shy about scoring and scoring often, attempting and succeeding with an onsides kick with a 30-point lead.
&uot;I heard their players yelling for 62,&uot; Faircloth said. &uot;But what goes around, comes around.&uot;
Vidalia beat Ouachita Christian 62-37 last year.
&uot;They blocked the heck out of us, and we couldn’t block them at all,&uot; Faircloth said. &uot;We were killed.&uot;
The loss drops Vidalia to 2-2 on the year. The Vikings travel to Jonesboro-Hodge next week.
