Cathedral Green Wave still searching for elusive first win

&uot;We’re not used to starting off the season like this,&uot; Cathedral High head football coach Ken Beesley Sr. said of the Green Wave’s 0-4 record so far this season.
Cathedral looks to change that tonight when it hosts Loyd Star in a District 7-2A contest at D’Evereaux Stadium.
&uot;We’ve got a big task this week,&uot; Beesley said facing a Loyd Star team that is off to a 4-1 start.
&uot;They’ve been winning with defense,&uot; Beesley said. &uot;They’re probably the best defensive team we’ve faced because of their size and speed.&uot;
Which, Beesley said, won’t help a Cathedral offense that has been struggling.
&uot;We’ve got to eliminate mistakes,&uot; Beesley said. &uot;It’s hard to play a perfect game, but to win this game, that’s basically what we’ve got to do.
Loyd Star will run an I-formation offense and a 4-3 defense.
&uot;They have three good running backs. One of them is real quick and has good breakaway speed,&uot; Beesley said. &uot;Their offensive line averages about 220-230 and they have two that weigh 260.&uot;
Beesley said the keys to the game defensively will be to tackle well and try to stop Loyd Star from getting big plays.
&uot;We also hope they hurt themselves with turnovers,&uot; Beesley said. &uot;We need to get some breaks.&uot;
Beesley said he would like to see the offense pound it out on the ground and only throw the ball when needed.
&uot;If we get two touchdowns it will be a big effort,&uot; Beesley said. &uot;The most points anyone has scored on Loyd Star this season is 12 or 14.&uot;
