Child killed when struck by car north of Jonesville

JONESVILLE, La. – A 7-year-old boy died Wednesday after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday afternoon, on La. Highway 124.

Lamontrius Franklin, of Jonesville La. was walking about 7 miles north of Jonesville when he was struck by a 1995 Nissan Maxima traveling east, according to the Louisiana State Police.

The vehicle struck the child as he moved from the shoulder of the road into the path of the car.

Joseph L. George, 45, of Ferriday, who was driving the Nissan, was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. No charges are expected to be filed.
