Tensas falls after ‘wild’ fourth quarter

ST. JOSEPH – River Oaks Academy outscored Tensas Academy 21-6 in the fourth quarter as the Mustangs defeated the Chiefs 24-6 Friday night in an MPSA Division 7-A game at St. Joseph.
&uot;It was a tough one,&uot; said Tensas head coach Chris Jacobs. &uot;A lot of action took place in the fourth quarter. It got kind of wild.&uot;
Clinging to a 6-0 lead going into the fourth quarter, River Oaks broke the game open with a 25-yard interception return by Keith Thompson and a one-yard run by Brent Johnson.
The Mustangs also got a five-yard TD run by Johnson after Tensas’ only touchdown, a 78-yard pass from David Crigler to Adam Borsch.
Johnson led all rushers with 146 yards on 32 carries.
Crigler completed eight of 25 passes for 154 yards with four interceptions and ran for 61 yards on nine carries to lead the Chiefs.
River Oaks finished the season at 10-0 overall, 4-0 in the district, with the district championship.
Tensas finished its season at 7-3 overall and 1-3 in district play.
