An unknown assailant left an 81-year-old Natchez man tied up on his couch, with injuries to his ribs, Monday night, after breaking into his residence, police said.
A driver delivering meals for the Natchez Senior Citizen Center, found the man at Shaw Apartments on St. Catherine Street, at 11:40 a.m. Tuesday, said Natchez Police Chief Willie Huff.
Police believe an unarmed male kicked open the apartment door sometime Monday night while the victim was asleep.
The suspect struck the man several times in the ribs, demanded money and tied him up, Huff said.
The suspect then left the scene with a small amount of money and a television set. Huff said he would not release the victim’s identity or specifics about the crime.
The victim is under observation at the intensive care at Natchez Regional Medical Center with injuries to his ribs, Huff said.
