Cathedral scores win in last game

BOGUE CHITTO – Bart Lane threw four touchdowns and Ja’Mel Jackson ran for three more as the Cathedral Green Wave defeated the playoff-bound Bogue Chitto Bobcats 35-12 Friday night at Bogue Chitto.

Lane completed seven of nine passes for 114 yards and Jackson had 23 carries for 118 yards.

Cathedral got out to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter on a 5-yard run by Jackson and Byron Zerby’s extra point.

Bogue Chitto cut the lead to one in the second quarter on a 31-yard pass from Josh Leggett to Scott Edwards, but the two-point conversion was no good.

Leggett completed only seven of 17 passes for 120 yards, but was intercepted three times.

Cathedral then scored 28 straight points in the second and third quarters.

In the second quarter Lane threw touchdown passes of 32 yards to Mark Steckler and 23 yards to Clay Hammons for a 21-6 halftime lead.

Jackson scored both of Cathedral’s third quarter touchdowns on runs of four yards and one yard.

Zerby converted on all five extra points in the game.

Bogue Chitto didn’t score again until the fourth quarter on a 1-yard run by Johnathon Cutrer.

Cathedral finished its season at 2-7. Bogue Chitto, which came in second place in District 7-1A, heads into the playoffs at 5-6.
