MONTEREY, La. – An apparent lightning strike caused two oil treaters and a nearby butane tank to explode Thursday, blanketing the Stacy area of Concordia Parish with smoke.

No one was injured in the incident, which occurred near Louisiana 129. No one was at the scene when the explosion occurred late Thursday morning, but lightning is thought to be the cause of the blaze, said Chief Nolen Cothren of Concordia Fire District No. 2.

It took about two hours for firefighters from Fire District No. 2, Monterey and Jonesville to extinguish the blaze. Four Rivers Production owns the treaters and tank, Cothren said.
