Davis makes Co-Lin squad

As a senior for the 1999-2000 Adams County Christian Lady Rebels basketball team, Laurie Ann Davis helped lead the team to a 20-11 record and the playoffs.

This season, as a freshman guard/forward on the Copiah-Lincoln Lady Wolves team, Davis hoped to have similar success.

Davis said there are several differences between high school basketball and college basketball.

&uot;The intensity level is a lot higher. It’s extreme. It’s a lot harder,&uot; she said. &uot;Coming from an academy and then playing in public, you get to meet more people.&uot;

Last Tuesday in a Lady Wolves’ 101-48 win over Delgado Community College, Davis had four points, three rebounds and two assists and was 2-for-3 from the free throw line.

&uot;It was nice,&uot; she said. &uot;I tried to stay focused.&uot;

Lady Wolves head coach Gwyn Young said she has been impressed with Davis’ play off the bench.

&uot;She shoots the ball well,&uot; Young said. &uot;She does everything pretty good. Time will tell.&uot;

&uot;She’s trying to turn into a small forward,&uot; Young added added.

Davis said she would like to continue to play basketball after she leaves Co-Lin, &uot;but I don’t know what God wants.&uot;
