VIDALIA, La. – Two Vidalia men were being held at the Concordia Parish Jail as of Monday evening on charges of kidnapping a Concordia woman at gunpoint Sunday night.

Christina Ray, 20, was at her aunt’s home on Loop Road in Wildsville when Jerry D. Wallace, 23, and Donald E. Higginbotham, 27, both of 1206 Peach St. in Vidalia, allegedly kicked in the front door.

They allegedly told everyone in the home not to resist or get a weapon or they would be shot, said Sheriff’s Office Investigator Dale Cowan. They then allegedly dragged Ray, Higginbotham’s ex-girlfield, out of the house, through a field and back to their vehicle.

Ray’s aunt called 911 at 9:42 p.m. to report the incident. State Trooper Mark Davis stopped the vehicle a short time later for traffic violations and detained the men until deputies arrived.

Ray received bruises and scrapes on her arm and hand in the incident but was otherwise uninjured. Higginbotham was booked Sunday night on charges of second-degree kidnapping and illegal carrying of a weapon by a convicted felon and is being held on a $70,000 bond.

Wallace was booked on a charge of second-degree kidnapping and a bench warrant on a charge of criminal damage to property. No bond was set on the bench warrant, but bond was set at $50,000 on the kidnapping charge.

Cowan said the two men had obtained a pistol from Higginbotham’s grandmother earlier Sunday. They also had a can of mace, a shotgun and a rifle with them when they were stopped by Davis.
