VIDALIA, La. – Longtime Concordia Parish plantation owner, publisher and civic leader Percy Rountree Jr. will appear in this year’s National Registry of Who’s Who.

&uot;I’m flattered. … I&160;wish I&160;knew who nominated me,&uot;&160;said Rountree, who received a copy of this year’s Who’s Who on Friday.

But finding that information may be difficult, since registry Chairman George Nolan has not been able to find a form that included the name of the person who nominated Rountree. This year’s edition, which is divided according to new members’ professions, includes a short biography of Rountree under the heading &uot;Agriculture.&uot;

That is because Rountree and his son, David Rountree, are the longtime co-owners of Whitehall Plantation, a 1,450-acre farm south of Vidalia.

The biography mentioned Rountree’s past work as publisher of the Concordia Sentinel newspaper and as a land developer.

It also noted that Rountree graduated with honors from Louisiana State University and was also a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II.

Rountree said the biography is the result of several months of communication between him and Who’s Who officials.

For the last five years the registry, published by American Biographical Publications, has recognized 10,000 people a year who have made an impact in their profession and community.

Members are nominated by existing Who’s Who members and the public at large.
