A 23-year-old Natchez resident was taken to Natchez Regional Medical Center Tuesday with a gunshot wound to the upper back.
Detrick Ware, 209 Dumas Drive was allegedly shot by Ornethia Marquis Bailey, 24, 2720 Miller Ave., in the 200 block of Dumas Drive, said Natchez Police Chief Willie Huff.
The shooting took place at around 4:30 p.m., and Bailey was arrested about three hours later on a warrant when he was spotted walking across the Old Wal-Mart parking lot in the 200 block of D’Evereux Drive, Huff said.
Witnesses told police that Bailey shot Ware while the two were outside, Huff said. Bailey was charged with aggravated assault and was being held at the Natchez City Jail Monday evening. Ware was being treated at Natchez Regional Medical Center Tuesday night.
