Bryant takes 10-shot lead in Confederate Oil Invitational

Tom Bryant shot a four-under-par 68 to take a four-shot lead into the championship flight after first-round play Friday in the 46th annual Confederate Oil Invitational Golf Tournament at Beau Pr\u00E9 Country Club.
Bryant’s 68 was the only under-par score among the 112 players in Friday’s first round who battled temperatures around 80 degrees, high humidity and a stiff south wind.
The majority of the field had scores in the 80s and 90s.
Jessie Horton fired an even-par 72 to take sole possession of second place going into today’s final round.
John Carlton is in third place and six shots back after a two-over-par round of 74.
Only 10 golfer are within 10 strokes of Bryant’s 68. Others in the top 10 after the first round are: Woody Allen (75); Don Lee (76); James Walker (76); Chris Brown (77); Gene Francis (78); Ron Swanson (78); Bobby Meason (78); and Heath Mott (78).
The tournament continues today starting at 8 a.m. at Beau Pr\u00E9 Country Club.
