&uot;(It’s) to give the kids some enjoyment toward the end of school in the spring time and also (serve) as a fundraiser for the PTO,&uot; Royal Hill, a member of the McLaurin Parent Teacher Organization, about the event.

Hundreds of school-age children and their relatives enjoyed the break Saturday.

&uot;I just wanted to spend some quality time with them,&uot; said Brandy Herrington, 17, who brought her two nephews to Spring Fling.

Deborah Turner brought her nephew, Joshua Bacon, 8, and her niece, Jazmin Bacon, 6, to Spring Fling. As a second-grader, Saturday was Joshua Bacon’s first Spring Fling as a McLaurin Elementary student.

&uot; It’s fun to go to P.E. and art and to do your best,&uot; Joshua said about life at McLaurin Elementary School.

But at Spring Fling, Bacon was most looking forward to playing in the space jump &uot;because it’s fun to jump around in it,&uot; he said.
