Music will fill the air during the month of May in Natchez. Music will fill schools, churches, historic houses, auditoriums – and the Margaret Martin Performing Arts Center on Homochitto Street.

The Natchez Opera Festival attracts young artists from the great American musical capitals.

Four main events will punctuate the month’s activities. All four will be held in the performing arts center and are ticketed events, ranging in price from $20 to $45 per person.

Those musical specials are:

&uot;HMS Pinafore&uot; on May 5 at 8 p.m.

&uot;Carmen&uot; on May 12 at 8 p.m.

&uot;A Special Historic Celebration of the 150th Anniversary of Jenny Lind’s Concert in Natchez&uot; on May 19 at 8 p.m.

These highlighted events will be surrounded by many other musical performances throughout the month, beginning with a free performance, &uot;Concert in the Park,&uot; at noon on May 4 in Memorial Park on Main Street.

Throughout the month, opera performers will sing during regular church services at many of the downtown churches.
