NATCHEZ — Three people were killed and one woman was injured when a single-engine plane taking off from the Adams County Airport crashed 100 feet from the runway just before 11 a.m. Saturday, authorities said.

The injured woman was airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Although the man flying the plane and his three passengers — one woman and two young girls — were thought to be from Texas, their names and hometowns were not available as of early Saturday afternoon.

Federal Aviation Administration crews were set to arrive Saturday afternoon to help determine the cause of the crash, Airport Director Clint Pomeroy said. Investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board will likely arrive Sunday, he said.
