Miss-Lou to host tourney for cancer

The 22nd annual AmSouth Cancer Tennis Tournament will take place this Friday, Saturday and Sunday at four different tennis courts in the Natchez-Vidalia area.

Friday’s matches will start at 3 p.m. and Saturday’s and Sunday’s matches will start at 8:30 a.m.

&uot;We’ve got a big group coming from Baton Rouge (La.), Monroe (La.) and Jackson,&uot; Noreen Pyron, tournament co-director, said. &uot;We’ve also got people coming from New Orleans.&uot;

She said 130 people had registered so far, including close to 65 from Natchez, and that approximately 160 people will participate. The tournament will consist of matches in men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles.

While the tournament headquarters will be at the Duncan Park tennis courts, matches will be played at the Duncan Park, Trinity, Beau Pr\u00E9 and Vidalia tennis courts, Pyron said.

The deadline for registration is at noon today at the pro shop at Duncan Park. The fee is $30 per event and $50 for two events.

&uot;It’s good competition. Everybody just loves to come to Natchez,&uot; Pyron said.

&uot;We want to encourage the Natchez people to register as soon as possible,&uot; she said. &uot;They’re always the last ones to register.&uot;
