Four players added to All-Metro Softball Team

Four players, whose schools play fall softball rather than spring ball, have been added to The Natchez Democrat’s All-Metro Softball Team, which was announced on June 10.
Two players from Natchez High School and two players from Cathedral High School were selected using the same criteria on which the other players were evaluated.
Kelly Fuller, who batted .625 as a Natchez High School senior, was added to the team.
&uot;Kelly is a very solid player,&uot; Johnson said. &uot;She has led our team on offense for three or four years. she is a devoted player and she’s dedicated and hard working.&uot;
Chrystal Sylvester, who’s powerhitting, hustle and near perfect defensive play got her named to the team, has been added as well.
Earning honorable mention to the team from the Lady Bulldogs’ squad were Deanna Butts, who hit a robust .600 last season. DeLisa Lewis, a .573. hitter, and Karmethia Mazique, who batted, .575, also earned honorable mention.
From the Cathedral High School Greenwave squad, shortstop Krystal Groom, who hit .603 this season, and accepted a full scholarship to Copia-Lincoln Community College, was named to the squad.
&uot;She’s without a doubt the total player, who can play any position,&uot; Cathedral coach Lynn Ogden said. &uot;
Mary Margaret Alwood, a second baseman who batted .460, and earned best devensive player awards for the team, has also been selected.
Jessica Barnett, a .460 hitter, Tory Blackwell, a .415 hitter, and sophomore Leighton McDaniel, a .328 hitter, earned honorable mention.
