What organizers call a &uot;productive season&uot; in Natchez’s T.M. Jennings youth baseball league is nearing an end and will begin its annual playoffs on Wednesday.
&uot;It’s been a good season,&uot; league organizer Pete Jackson said. &uot;We’ve played about 15 games. It’s been productive.&uot;
Jackson said the playoffs will begin Wednesday and culminate Friday when the league selects all-stars after division champions are crowned.
In the 11- and 12-year-old league, Jackson said East Buick will square off against Alcoa at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, followed by Godley Clinic and Wright’s Logging – two matchups that will determine Friday night’s league championship game, which will begin at 6:30.
In the 9- and 10-year-old division, Jackson said AmSouth will play Pyron’s Furniture Wednesday and Discount Auto will play Byrne and Hicks Insurance to set up Friday night’s title game.
Fans pulling for league winners in the 7- and 8-year-old division won’t have to wait quite as long, according to league head Greg West.
Tonight, Quinn Logging will play Eastland Multiplex and Sen. Johnson will square off against Hawkin’s Construction in semi-final action, setting up Thursday’s championship matchup, which begins at 6:15 p.m.
Jackson said the T.M. Jennings All-Stars, which will be announced on Friday, will head to Hattiesburg July 13-15 and hopes the community supports the players.
&uot;We hope everyone will come out and support our boys in the state tournament.&uot;
