SUMMIT – The Natchez Dixie Boys 11- and 12-year old Wallace League All-Stars lost 9-7 in nine innings to the McComb All-Stars Tuesday night in their second game of the district tournament at Summit. Bubba Boggs hit a three-run homer in the top of the ninth to win the game for McComb.

&uot;It was just a tough game to lose,&uot; said coach Brad Fondren. &uot;I thought we had it a couple of times, but we just played a good ballclub.&uot;

Natchez was down 6-1 to McComb through three and a half innings of ball. But the squad rallied to score two runs in the bottom of the fourth to trim the lead to 6-3. Natchez continued the comeback by scoring three runs in the bottom of the sixth in its last at bat.

Each team was held scoreless in two extra innings. But Boggs connected for the homer to give McComb a 9-6 lead. Natchez rallied for one run in the bottom of the ninth, but that was all it could get.

&uot;Our boys kept their heads up and fought until the end,&uot; Fondren said. &uot;We’re not out of it yet.&uot;

Austin Weeks went 2-3 with a double and Stevan Ridley smacked a home rum for Natchez. Dustin Carroll pitched five innings and struck out nine batters. He gave up only one hit.
