Area filled with lots of positive changes

Have you noticed what’s happening in the Miss-Lou? Look around a bit and you’ll see things are moving ahead – rapidly.

Despite a still shaky national economy, the economic horizon in our area shows great potential.

Years of waiting and hoping for four-lane access to our area is nearly over. The four-laning project of U.S. 84 will be completed in a matter of days and the four-laning of U.S. 61 won’t be too far behind, transportation officials say.

And as those precious arteries are set to really make a difference in luring potential industry to the area.

The Natchez-Adams County Economic and Community Development Authority is poised to select its new executive director. Filling that executive directory position is a move that, while long overdue, will ultimately serve as a crucial step in turning things around on the economic development front.

In Natchez, the convention center is beginning to take shape and tourism officials are beginning to negotiate with potential convention customers.

Plans to build a fabulous sports complex are moving along, as is the project that will bring a federal courthouse to downtown Natchez.

Across the river in Concordia Parish, the Vidalia Landing riverfront project keeps getting bigger and better.

Yes, it’s amazing what’s going on in our area.

And the continued growth of our area depends upon all of us. From shopping at home to getting involved in community and civic projects, our future is what we choose to make of it.
