VIDALIA, La. – A clerk sustained minor injuries but nothing was taken Friday night in an attempted robbery at the 84 Kwik Thru, an incident that ended with a chase into a nearby residential area.

A clerk at the 84 Kwik Thru on U.S. 84 near Vidalia told sheriff’s deputies that as she was leaving the store just before 10:30 p.m., she was approached by two men, one armed with a small pistol.

The store’s door had just slammed, and the men demanded the store key but shoved the clerk into a newspaper machine and fled when she started screaming.

Patrons of a nearby bar heard her screams. Along with deputies who arrived on the scene, including Deputy Wayne Taylor, the patrons chased the two men into the nearby Concordia Park subdivision.

The clerk, who was bruised in the incident, only described the men as two black males, one short and one tall.

The store was also the site of another attempted armed robbery in late May. There is already a $1,000 in place for information leading to an arrest in connection with the previous attempt.

&uot;And there is a case (Friday’s robbers) could be the same men who attempted the first robbery,&uot; said Kathleen Stevens, spokesperson for the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office.

&uot;If clerks at these convenience stores in the parish will call our office before they exit their businesses, we can have a deputy there to see that they get to their cars safely,&uot; Stevens said.
