AP and staff reports

Students and staff in the Natchez-Adams School District may have to wait in line to use the restroom for the next few weeks.

Due to a bathroom renovation project, many of bathrooms in the district’s schools are currently unusable.

&uot;I apologize for it, but in the long run its going to make it better in that we’re going to have all new restrooms in our buildings,&uot; said Superintendent Dr. Carl Davis.

And the work is much needed because the bathrooms had not been maintained over the years.

&uot; They were in just deplorable shape,&uot; Davis said.

District officials began the project later in the year than they would have liked because of the time it took to complete the bid process.

The district awarded the project to Smith Painting and Contracting of Hattiesburg for $489,000. It should be completed in September, Davis said.

In the meantime, the schools are trying to schedule classroom trips to the restrooms to allow everyone the time to use them.
