The Natchez-Adams County Port has loaded the second in up to 12 river barge loads of large ducts headed to a power plant in the East. The DynaSteel project is not the largest handled by the Natchez facility, which is located south of the Mississippi River bridge near the industrial park. However, the heavy pieces are a challenge for workers, who carefully monitor the moving and the stacking from dock to barge. Use of the river barge vessel, as opposed to the more conventional lash barges, has increased at the port and is expected to become more familiar in coming years.
