Janie Barnes
March 12, 1909 – Aug. 18, 2001
Services for Janie Barnes, 92, of Woodville, who died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2001, at Beverly Health Care Center, will be at noon Friday at Free Spring Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Sullivan officating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.
Visitation is from 4 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 11 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.
Mrs. Barnes was born March 12, 1909, in Wilkinson County, the daughter of Ella Bolden McFarland and Gordon McFarland.
She was educated in the Wilkinson County public school system and was a member, mother and former choir member of Free Spring Baptist Church.
Survivors include a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be her nephews and great-nephews.

John A. Fleming Sr.
Nov. 25, 1931 – Aug. 18, 2001
Services for John A. Fleming Sr., 69, of Natchez, who died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2001, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at China Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnny Hollins officiating.
Burial will be in the National Cemetery under the direction of Webb Funeral System.
The procession will leave at 10:40 a.m. Friday from 901 M.L.King St.
Visitation is from 1 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.
Mr. Fleming was born Nov. 25, 1931, in Cranfield, the son of Easter Foster Swafford and Phillip Fleming.
He was a retired warehouse supervisor from Bancroft Paper Company and was a member of China Grove Baptist Church and Flemings Hunting Club.
Survivors include seven children and their spouses, Glen and Janice of Monroe, La., Thomas Darnell and Dorothy of Lawton, Okla., Evelyn Elaine and Prentiss Sr. of New Orleans, Leandro and Mary and Warren of Natchez, John Jr. and Renee of Houston, Texas, and Charles and Tammy of Dallas, Texas; three sisters, Emma L. Calvit of Natchez, Catherine Hamilton of New Orleans and Elnora Turner of Lleno, La.; 21 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be deacons, Clyde Mock, Cleveland Moore, Ricky Gray, Alford Hunter and Alvin Clark.

Charles Donald Wells
May 14, 1928 – Aug. 21, 2001
Services for Charles Donald Wells, 73, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2001, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Morgantown Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Edgar L. Wright officiating.
Graveside services will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday at East Fork Cemetery in Amite County under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Wells was born May 14, 1928, in Amite County, the son of Archie Frith and Janie Mae Long Wells.
Mr. Wells was preceded in death by a daughter, Mavis Wells Creech.
Survivors include his wife, Norvelle L. Wells of Natchez; two sons, Dr. Charles D. Wells Jr., his wife, Lynn, and Chris L. Wells, his wife, Laura; two brothers, Boyd F. Wells of McComb and Bobby J. Wells of Richards, Texas; one sister, Rita Wilkerson of McComb; and three granddaughters, Kate and Anna Wells, both of Longview, Texas, and Melissa Wells of Vicksburg.
Pallbearers will be Jack McLemore, Paul Green, Shirley Brent, Herman Eldridge, Oliver Lee, L.C. Smith, James Delaney and Rayford Smith.
Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Morgantown Baptist Church.
The family requests memorials be made to Morgantown Baptist Church or a charity of one’s choice.

Roger McNeely
Jan. 20, 1965 – Aug. 19, 2001
FERRIDAY, La. – Services for Roger McNeely, 36, of Clayton, who died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2001, at his residence, will be at 2 p.m. today at Young’s Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Milton Rushing officiating.
Burial will be in the Pala Alto Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home of Ferriday.
Mr. McNeely was born Jan. 20, 1965, in Jonesville, the son of Coleman Ray McNeely and Beatrice McNeely.
He was a roughneck and a Pentecostal.
Mr. McNeely was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include his mother, Beatrice McNeely; six sisters, Carline Williams of Prarrieville, Judy McNeely of Gonzales, Linda McNeely of Clayton, Gloria McNeely of Ferriday, Sue Adair of Prairieville and Connie Finley of Monterey; two brothers, Kenneth Ray McNeely of Colorado and Coleman Ray &uot;Jr.&uot; McNeely of Wyoming; two aunts, Alta Mae Hamilton and Pauline Childress; one uncle, Lois Howard; and 20 nieces and nephews.

May 2, 1912 – Aug. 22, 2001
ST. JOSEPH, La. – Services for Elise Coor Kitchen, 89, of St. Joseph, who died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2001, in Tallulah, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Christ Episcopal Church with the Rev. Robert Cooper officiating.
Burial will be in the Legion Memorial Cemetery in Newellton under the direction of Comer Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation is from 9 a.m. until service time Friday at Christ Episcopal Parish House.
Mrs. Kitchen was born May 2, 1912, in Jackson, the daughter of Daniel Braxton and Addie Valentine Coor.
She was a homemaker, a resident of Tensas Parish for more than 80 years, a member of 75 years at Christ Episcopal Church in St. Joseph and a member of the Ladies Auxillary of the Episcopal Church. She was a graduate of Louisiana State Normal College now Northwestern State University in Natchitoches and a former teacher at Joseph Moore Davidson High School.
Survivors include her husband, James Ancel Kitchen Sr. of St. Joseph; two sons and their wives, James Ancel Kitchen Jr. and Judith of Baton Rouge and John Coor Kitchen and Debbie of St. Joseph; one brother and his wife, John Richard Coor and Mildred Riley Coor of St. Joseph; one sister, Ellen Coor Hudnall of St. Joseph; sister-in-law, Len S. Coor of Baton Rouge; four grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be James A. Kitchen III, John Charles Kitchen, Willam Daniel Kitchen, Leroy McDaniel, Allen Perritt and Jerome K. Post Jr.
