A man charged with two armed robberies in Natchez has now been accused of attacking and impregnating a 13-year-old girl.
Dexter Owens, 19, 159 Lower Woodville Road, has been charged with sexual battery.
The alleged assault against the 13-year-old took place in May and is the second charge of a sexual nature against Owens, said Adams County Sheriff Tommy Ferrell.
Officials became aware of the most recent charge after the victim’s mother contacted them on Monday.
&uot;(Owens) was known to the juvenile,&uot; Ferrell said. &uot;According to the incident report the mother had learned that her daughter had become pregnant when she took her to the doctor with another medical condition&uot;
Basically that she had begun to show, officials said.
The victim did not consent to the encounter, Ferrell said.
&uot;He went to her residence where she was and knocked on the door and forced himself in the house (and) on her,&uot; Ferrell said
In many cases such crimes go unreported, Ferrell said.
&uot;But at this time it got reported by the most drastic measure him being the father of this child,&uot; Ferrell said.
Owens is also charged with the statutory rape of another 13-year-old girl. The Natchez Police Department is handling that case.
He is also charged with the recent armed robbery of the Subway of Natchez on John R. Junkin Drive, the armed robbery of the MLK Video Rental & Music World on Martin Luther King Jr. Street and calling in a bomb threat to a local grocery store.
He has been held at the Adams County Jail since July because of the charges against them.
