Thompson to speak at Forks of Road program

NATCHEZ – U.S. Rep. Bennie G. Thompson will be the guest speaker
Nov. 3 at the Third Annual Runaway Freedom Summer of 1863 program.
The program will take place at 9:30 a.m. at the intersection
of Liberty Road and St. Catherine Street.
The ceremony is being held to call attention to those who were
enslaved in Mississippi and Louisiana, especially those sold at
the Forks of the Road site at Liberty Road and St. Catherine Street.
The event is being sponsored by the Southwest Mississippi/Louisiana
Underground Railroad Network to Freedom Association, which is
based in Natchez.
