NATCHEZ – The Paris apartment of Natchez native Glen Ballard and his wife, Liv, and their two sons, is featured in the January edition of the magazine &uot;House Beautiful.&uot;
Glen’s mother, Sallie Ballard, who subscribes to the magazine, said she was surprised to open the new edition and find that the beautiful apartment featured on the front of the magazine was that of her son and his family.
&uot;I’ve never stayed at the apartment,&uot; said Ballard, adding that others in the family have been guests in France of son Glen, who is a Grammy Award-winning producer and songwriter. &uot;I was reading about the apartment, recognized the designer’s name and then saw the names of my grandsons, B.G. and Mac.&uot;
The Glen Ballards live in the Los Angeles area and have chosen the Paris apartment as a second home as both husband and wife enjoy the life there.
The apartment, featuring a variety of furniture styles, is small by Los Angeles standards but elegant with such touches as the English montgolfier chandelier in the master bedroom, an 18th-century armoire that holds the family’s stereo system, marble mantels and a kitchen with original stained-glass windows.
The kitchen, in fact, is the smallest room in the apartment. The designer, Annie Kelly, who also worked with the Ballards on their Los Angeles home, said the size of the kitchen should be dictated by whether the family enjoys cooking.
&uot;Nobody cooks in Paris,&uot; Kelly is quoted as saying in the article. Liv Ballard agrees, saying that eating out, even at breakfast time, is a way of life in the French city.
