FERRIDAY, La. – During the Ferriday Town Council’s Tuesday
night meeting, Town Attorney Anna Brakenridge outlined a proposed
contract between the town and industrial prospect Vertex.
Vertex recycles oil spill pads for reuse.
As it now stands, rent would be based on the number of employees
hired by the company.
And the value of improvements the company makes to the old
&uot;railcar&uot; building on Louisiana 15 will be deducted
from the company’s rent during its first year in the building.
For the next four years, the company would be charged $1,000
a month. The council voted to call a special meeting with Vertex
to finalize the contract once Brakenridge irons out details of
the proposal.
Meanwhile, Mayor Glen McGlothin said he plans to ask the Governor’s
Office for and additional $150,000 to renovate the railcar building.
The town has alreadyreceived $230,000 for renovations.
