VIDALIA, La. – In a battle of top 10 teams in Class 2A and
for first place in District 3-2A, the second-ranked McCall Dragons
proved they are the team to beat with a 79-60 win over the ninth-ranked
Vidalia Vikings Tuesday night.
Derrick White led McCall (19-2, 3-0) with 25 points and Byron
Williams added 23 points.
Vidalia (17-3, 2-1) hung with McCall in the first quarter and
trailed by only two points, 17-15, at the end of the quarter.
The second quarter, however, belonged to the Dragons as they
outscored the Vikings 21-12 to take a 38-27 halftime lead.
McCall would not let Vidalia put together any big run that
would have gotten the Vikings back in the contest.
The Dragons outscored the Vikings 20-17 in the third quarter
and 21-16 in the fourth quarter.
Tony Hawkins led Vidalia with 20 points and Ajay Warner had
18 points.
