STACY &045; Traffic on the main route from Ferriday to Jonesville was blocked off until late Wednesday night by a jackknifed 18-wheeler carrying jet fuel.

According to State Police reports, the vehicle went out of control at 8:18 a.m. on U.S. 84 near Stacy and ran into a drainage ditch.

The impact of the crash apparently damaged the tank the truck was carrying. An unknown amount of the 3,155 gallons of jet fuel in the tank leaked out onto the road and into the drainage ditch.

Police blocked off a section of U.S. 84 while a hazardous material team attempted to clean the spill.

What remained of the jet fuel was pumped into another tanker that was brought to the scene.

The truck was finally pulled from the ditch at approximately 5:30 p.m.

The road was opened to traffic a few hours later.
