WOODVILLE &045; The Hounds got off to a slow start offensively, but their defense was a big difference in their road 45-33 win over WCCA in MPSA District 7-1A action Friday night.

&uot;I thought it was a gutsy effort,&uot; McAnally said. &uot;We picked it up in the second half.&uot;

Jordan Owens led the Hounds with 12 points and Kyle Johnson had 11 points. Jason Reed led the Rams with a game-high 15 points.

Huntington (9-8, 5-1) held an 8-7 lead after one quarter of play and led just 16-13 at the half.

The Hounds then outscored the Rams (2-12, 2-4) 14-9 in the third quarter to take a 30-22 lead.

&uot;We had an 11-point lead in the third quarter,&uot; McAnally said. &uot;WCCA cut the lead to four points in the fourth quarter. Our guys kept their composure and did a nice job of finishing the game to get the win.&uot;

Trinity Episcopal boys 44, Ben’s Ford 35

BOGALUSA, La. &045; Despite the fact that none of Trinity’s juniors played in the game, the fifth-ranked Saints still managed a nine-point win over the Eagles Friday night to stay undefeated in District 7-1A.

Mike Lickliter led Trinity (14-4, 6-0) with 21 points and Marcus Archer finished with 11 points.

The Saints led the Eagles 21-16 at halftime, but Eagles outscored the Saints 14-9 in the third quarter to tie the score at 30 going into the fourth quarter.

Brandon Cushing led the Eagles with 14 points.

Vidalia boys 88, Davidson 81 (OT)

VIDALIA, La. &045; The Vikings improved to 14-4 on the season, but it was anything but easy as they had to go to overtime to hold the Warriors Friday night.

Vidalia, which was led by David Wilson with 20 points and Ajay Warner with 18 points, also had to overcome some foul trouble by several players in order to pull out the win.

&uot;We sort of had a letdown in the second quarter,&uot; Vikings head coach Robert Sanders said. &uot;Louis McNulty and Jessie Lyles went to the bench with foul trouble.&uot;

The result was a 31-point outburst by Davidson that gave the Warriors a 52-46 halftime lead.

The Vikings then outscored the Warriors 22-16 in the third quarter to tie the score at 68.

Both teams scored 11 points in the fourth quarter to send the game into overtime.

&uot;Ajay was out in much of the fourth quarter with foul trouble,&uot; Sanders said. &uot;In overtime we stayed aggressive and took it to them.&uot;
