County adopts stricter rules for dancing clubs

WOODVILLE &045; Nude dancing just became more restricted in Wilkinson County.
On Monday, supervisors unanimously adopted a 43-page ordinance which severely restricts the future location and operation of nude dancing clubs within the county.
The measure was prompted by last year’s opening of Illusions Gentlemen’s’ Club on U. S.
61 south of Woodville.
But the new ordinance will not force Illusions to close.
Illusions is located in the former Neal’s Restaurant building, adjacent to the Magnolia Inn.
The property was awarded resort status in a 1980 Chancery Court ruling.
Resort status permits the club to apply for a liquor license outside of a municipality; exempts the club from food requirements; and allows the club to remain open 24 hours.
Board Attorney Ron Senko said the new adult entertainment regulations are modeled after a similar provision in Pike County.
The Towns of Woodville and Centreville have also recently adopted similar statutes.
