NATCHEZ &045; Can the city market its industrial recruitment efforts through the tourists it attracts?
That was the question facing the Natchez Board of Aldermen during their Tuesday meeting.
As he did in the board’s last meeting, Alderman Theodore &uot;Bubber&uot; West asked Tourism Director Walter Tipton what can be done to let tourists and convention-goers know that the city is also seeking new industries.
&uot; Can they take anything back that says Natchez is also an industrial town that is open for jobs?&uot; West said.
When people visit the Convention and Visitors Bureau’s Web site, they can already link from there to the city’s site, which features a button visitors can click to learn more about industrial development in Natchez, Tipton said.
Literature about economic development could be handed out to those attending events in Natchez, said Alderwoman Sue Stedman.
Mayor F.L. &uot;Hank&uot; Smith said he plans to meet in the near future with Tipton and EDA Director Michael Ferdinand to discuss the issue further.
