New candidates sign up on last day to qualify

NATCHEZ &045; An already-crowded ballot got even more packed Saturday as four new candidates joined the fray on the last day of qualifying for the fall elections.
Among Saturday’s developments, Jo Ann Brumfield qualified to run against incumbent Democrat M. L. &uot;Binky&uot; Vines in the race for Adams County Circuit Clerk.
In the race for Tax Assessor, Democratic incumbent Reynolds Atkins will face Charles L. Hargill, Jr., also a Democrat.
Incumbent Charles L. Vess, a Democrat, will meet Democratic challenger David Gaude in the race for Southern District Justice Court Judge,
Democrat Rosie Sullivan joined Independent John Pullins to challenge incumbent Coroner James Lee, a Democrat.
Elsewhere, incumbent Tax Assessor Vernona Sanders, a Democrat, will run unopposed after Democratic challenger Pam Frank withdrew from the race on Saturday.
Primaries will be held Aug. 5 and Aug 26.
General elections are scheduled for Nov. 4.
