NATCHEZ &045; A woman who attempted to commit suicide Tuesday by jumping off the Mississippi River bridge was in stable condition Wednesday at Natchez Regional Medical Center.

Jan G. Montgomery, 51, of 18 Old Montgomery Road, had been listed in guarded condition Tuesday afternoon.

She survived the leap from the bridge and was rescued 5 miles down the river by a tugboat from Vidalia Dock and Storage. Law enforcement agencies from Louisiana and Mississippi took part in the search.
