Madsen struck out four and held Benton hitless in the five-inning contest. Benton had a baserunner reach on error in the first inning but was thrown out trying to steal second by catcher Claudia O’Dell.

The Lady Tigers jumped out to a 4-0 lead by the end of the first inning. Shelly Vines was hit by a pitch, Madsen singled and Misty Stelly reached on an error before a Jenae Jackson double cleared the bases for a 3-0 lead.

Jackson later scored on a passed ball for the 4-0 lead.

They got four more in the second as a Jackson single drove in Vines and Madsen for a 6-0 lead. Kelly Simpson’s single scored Jackson, and an overthrow on the play allowed Simpson to come all the way around to score.

They added another in the fourth when Jackson walked and later scored on an overthrow after Simpson singled.

In the first game, the Lady Tigers took a 2-0 lead in the first inning when Simpson doubled in Ash Brashier and Vines. Leake scored in the second off Madsen when the leadoff batter came around to score, but Madsen got some big outs to get out of the jam.

Madsen held Leake hitless in its final three innings. She ended the game with three strikeouts and one walk.
