VIDALIA &045; For Benard Sheppard, doing the job right is the only way to go.
On Sunday afternoon, the Vidalia native took time after washing Jack McLemore’s new GMC Yukon to towel-dry the forest green exterior.
&uot;I just take my time and dry it off.
That water will leave spots if you don’t Š When you do something for a person, and do the best you can, they’ll call you back,&uot; he said.
Floor mats were laid out on the driveway, as Sheppard prepared to clean the interior of the SUV.
Sheppard washes the McLemore’s vehicles and does odd jobs for other Vidalia residents by word-of-mouth.
&uot;I met Mr. McLemore through his father and started washing his cars about three months ago,&uot; Sheppard said.
McLemore said he has been pleased with Sheppard’s work and considers him a dependable worker.
And the 49 year-old Sheppard likes having the work to occupy his time. &uot;I stay busy quite a bit.
Different people are always calling me,&uot; he said.
And when he’s not taking care of clients in town, Sheppard helps out at Clare Shields’ sweet potato farm near Deer Park. &uot; We’ll be busy getting sweet potatoes out of the ground starting tomorrow.
He’s got about six or seven acres of sweet potatoes planted,&uot; Sheppard said.
