Eighteen criminal cases handled during recent court term

WOODVILLE &045;&045; A total of 18 Wilkinson County criminal cases were handled of by Sixth Circuit Judge Lillie Blackmon Sanders during recent court action.
A synopsis of the cases based on information provided by the Sixth Circuit District Attorney’s Office:
Greg Peebles, 42, was charged as an habitual offender with false pretense.
Peebles pled guilty to the charge as a non-habitual offender and was sentenced to three years in the Mississippi Department of Corrections, consecutive to his present sentence. Peebles was also ordered to pay restitution to his victim.
Michael Johnson, 21, was charged with sexual battery. Johnson’s case was continued until the February term of court.
William White, 35, was charged with simple robbery. White pleaded guilty to simple assault and petit larceny and was sentenced to six months in the county jail.
Sterling Parker, 35, was charged with burglary of a storehouse. Parker’s case was continued until the February term of court.
Allen Henyard, 25, was charged with aggravated assault.
Henyard pleaded guilty to simple assault and was sentenced to six months in the county jail, suspended.
Henyard was also ordered to pay restitution to his victim.
Calvin Jackson, Jr., 25, was charged with burglary of an automobile (four counts).
Jackson pleaded guilty to one count and was sentenced to three years in the MDOC, concurrent with his present sentence.
Jackson was also ordered to pay restitution of $880 on all four counts.
Glenn Parker, 22, was charged with aggravated assault.
Parker pleaded guilty as charged and was sentenced to five years in the MDOC, suspended, with five years probation.
Parker was also ordered to pay restitution to his victim.
Jermaine Parker, 18, was charged with aggravated assault.
The charge was retired.
Kenneth Cooper, 31, was charged with possession of methamphetamine.
Cooper’s case was continued until the February term of court.
Craig Bynum, 23, was charged with sale of marijuana (less than one ounce) and sale of cocaine (two counts). Bynum pled guilty to sale of marijuana.
The court delayed acceptance of the guilty plea and entered an order of non-adjudication conditioned on one year of good behavior, after which the charge will be retired without a felony conviction. The sale of cocaine charges against Bynum were retired.
Trevor Wayne Jackson, 42, was charged with burglary of a storehouse. Jackson pled guilty to misdemeanor trespass and was sentenced to six months with credit for time served.
George Rogers, 22, was charged with burglary of a storehouse (four counts). Rogers’ case was continued until the February term of court.
Andreaius Samuels, 22, was charged with burglary of a storehouse (four counts).
Samuels pled guilty to one count and sentencing was delayed.
Roderick Williams, 20, was charged with burglary of a storehouse (four counts).
Williams’ case was continued until the February term of court.
Derrick Taplin, 26, was charged with uttering a forgery (six counts) and burglary of a dwelling.
Taplin pleaded guilty to one count of uttering a forgery and grand larceny.
He was sentenced to two concurrent five- year terms in the MDOC with two years suspended and two years probation on each term.
Taplin was also ordered to undergo drug and alcohol treatment and pay restitution of $300.
Jonathan Edwards, 22, was charged with aggravated assault.
Edwards was acquitted at trial.
Stanley Gilmore, 29, was
charged with aggravated assault. Gilmore pled guilty as charged and was sentenced to five years in the MDOC, suspended, with post-release supervision.
