Roberts: If you’re out there, bring a rain jacket

The fish were active Saturday and they will bit today but bring your rain gear.
A cold front moved in yesterday and it will probably be wet today. Low barometric pressure will turn the fish on but low pressure usually means rain, and wind.
The best days to go fishing are during the worst weather conditions. I guess it could not be any other way.
When it comes to bad weather gear, take my advice and splurge. Nothing will ruin a fishing or hunting trip faster than wet feet and a leaky rain suit.
Those clear poncho type rain tops that cost 5 bucks will send you home quick.
One year I watched a couple hauling it down the lake with their ponchos blowing up and wrapping around their necks. They were soaked and it was cold.
When you hear the name Stearns, you think of life jackets. The Stearns Company has produce quality life jackets since I can remember.
They all so offer high tech rain gear that will keep you dry. Getting back to life jackets you should not skimp in this area either, for good reason. Your life could depend on it.
Last week I wrote about the new &uot;Easy View Tackle System&uot; and credited the wrong person for inventing it.
It was not Bob Taylor but Mr. Bob Scott of Arlington, Texas, who designed a tackle storage system that is sure to become a standard item for the serious fishermen and women that like to keep their tackle organized.
If you missed last week’s column, the &uot;Easy View Tackle System&uot; consists of a series of heavy-duty clips on a thin, strong metal bar.
Simply attach the bars to the inside of your boats storage and rod box lids. Your lures and terminal tackle will be right there where you can find them, in seconds.
I have fished two tournaments with one installed in my Triton and the system works great. No longer do I come down off the casting deck and dig through dozens of boxes and bags to replace or change lures.
I can bag and clip my plastic worms, hooks, sinkers, jigs, trailers, rattles and spinnerbaits on the back of my storage box lids and change lures or replace a lure in seconds.
If you see me on the water, stop by and I’ll show you how it works and give you some pointers on installation. Check out the new system at easyviewtackle.com.
