FERRIDAY, La. &045; Every dog has his day.
Unfortunately for Huntington’s Hounds and Lady Hounds they needed a pack of rabid pit bulls to take down two polished Central Private teams.
Six-five Rebel post Josh Wall, who dusted off a picture-perfect outside touch to go with his play around the goal, scored at will against Huntington in a 78-13 romp.
Wall went for 25 points, seeing action in the first three quarters before being yanked with six minutes left in the third period.
&uot;Obviously (Wall) can handle the ball and play low for us,&uot; Central Private head coach Jason Norris said. &uot;He can be as good as he wants to be. Our point guard, Travis McGraw, is struggling with his shot right now, but does a great job. After that we get young real fast.&uot;
Maybe, but against a depleted Huntington team that was absent several players, including a starter, the underclassmen were still able to pick up where the starters left off.
Brandon Billings had 13 off the bench, along with seven from Adam Bailey. Both saw extensive action as the Rebels built a 32-5 advantage after the first period.
&uot;That’s what you want out of your young players. They’re supposed to be ready to play,&uot; Norris said. &uot;Every year we go into the season hoping to play 10, but in the past few (seasons) we’ve only gotten a seven-man rotation. This year I think we’ll reach that goal.&uot;
It didn’t matter which basket the Hounds were shooting at, both seemed to have a vacuum seal around the rim.
&uot;I played at (Adams Christian) and I knew what to expect from (Central Private),&uot; Huntington head coach Brandon Gousset said. &uot;I tried to explain it to (our players) what it is like, but you can’t know until you experience a first half like that.&uot;

The going did not get much better for the Lady Hounds, as Central Private head coach Hugh Webb watched as all eight of his players scored four points or more.
This isn’t the Kingston Trio, but the Kirkwood Trio of Stefanie, Samantha and Sonni combined for 31 points.
