NATCHEZ &045; A Natchez woman was found beaten to death Sunday morning, and police are looking for her boyfriend on an affidavit charge of murder.
A neighbor called police to the house of Tatanisha LeKeytha Thomas, 26, of 42 Brenham Ave., at around 9:30 a.m. after finding her dead in the front of the house, Police Chief Mike Mullins said.
Police are searching for Greg D. Moffett, 30, of the same address. The couple had lived together for about a year, and there has been a history of domestic abuse in the relationship, Mullins said.
Thomas had obvious head injuries, Mullins said.
Adams County Coroner James Lee said Thomas’ body has been sent for autopsy, but his investigation showed she had died from blunt trauma to the head, apparently from a claw hammer.
&uot;We want to make sure the injuries (match) what we’ve seen at the crime scene,&uot; Lee said.
This is the second murder of the year within Natchez city limits. In May, Nick Bailey allegedly shot Corey Sewell after a dispute at a Canal Street residence.
In Adams County, there have been three murders. Just last month, Jimmy Newton Pruitt III, 19, was charged with shooting 21-year-old Christopher Bourdin on U.S. 61 North. Sheriff’s department officials have released few details in the case. In October, Donna LaPrairie of Kingston was charged with killing her husband, Ronnie, again after an alleged history of domestic abuse. And in July, John Vassar was killed in his Morgantown home. Nathan Michael Hogan of New Orleans was arrested in the murder.
