LORMAN &045; Alcorn State junior guard LaToya Johnson may not play Saturday Jackson State due to a broken nose suffered Dec. 30.

ASU head coach Shirley Walker said Johnson will get evaluated again today to determine whether she’ll be able to play either Saturday or maybe Monday when the Lady Braves host Grambling.

&uot;I’m a person who believes when you’re hurting I won’t push you because no one knows your pain,&uot; Walker said. &uot;I won’t push them.&uot;

Johnson, the team’s leading scorer and most accurate shooter, suffered a broken nose during a collision during the Lady Braves’ contest with Southeast Missouri State Dec. 30. She remained in the lineup during Saturday’s game at Texas Southern despite the injury, but she suffered another blow to the nose in that game.

Johnson did not play Monday at Prairie View. Johnson averages 13.1 points per game.

&uot;Her spirits are high,&uot; Walker said. &uot;You just really have to take her by both shoulders and say, ‘No, it’s time to heal.’ She doesn’t put the word ‘pain’ in front of her. I admire her. We’ll see how she feels.&uot;
