School board honors Vidalia football team

VIDALIA &045; A standing room only crowd at Tuesday night’s Concordia Parish School Board meeting thinned out quickly once the football team left.
The Vidalia High School team &045; accompanied by supporters that made up much of the crowd &045; was present to receive recognition for the season’s semifinal finish.
Board member Darrell M. Crofford made a motion to have a plaque with the names of all the coaches and players made and displayed in the school. The board unanimously approved the motion and congratulated the team.
&uot;You all have given us a lot of memories,&uot; board Vice President Raymond Riley Sr. said. &uot;I thank God for all of you and wish you the best in life.&uot;
Coach Dee Faircloth accepted the honor and praised his team for both on and off the field accomplishments.
&uot;I am extremely proud of these youngsters,&uot; Faircloth said. &uot;They are small in stature but they made great accomplishments on the field. I am also proud of the academic kids on the team.&uot;
Other honors were handed out to students in grades kindergarten through eighth grade. The board handed out certificates for citizenship awards, school attendance and math achievements.
