VIDALIA &045; Don’t be alarmed this week if you see medical, police and fire personnel rushing to the Comfort Suites &045; it’s only a drill.
The Vidalia Fire Department along with other agencies in the parish and also in Natchez are testing the fire/major response evacuation plan at the Comfort Suites. The agencies will put the pre-fire plan into action and see if it works.
&uot;It’s something we are going to start doing more of,&uot; said Ben Adams, assistant fire chief in Vidalia, especially in high-occupancy building likes the Comfort Suites where it is necessary to evacuate numerous people at one time in an emergency.
The drills will be Monday through Wednesday from
10 to 11 a.m. each day. The emergency responders will not be using sirens or lights to go to the scene, Adams said, but the hotel will be sounding its alarm.
The drill is something Adams said &uot;needs to be done.&uot;
