MEADVILLE &045; It’s probably the first time a Natchez High baseball coach has been able to make this kind of comment &045; everything is falling into place early in the season.

Long known as a program facing an uphill battle in baseball, the Natchez High Bulldogs avenged an earlier loss to Franklin County with a 6-2 win Thursday night in Meadville.

The Bulldogs (4-4) got timely hits and a solidly pitched game from Drew Kossum.

&uot;They have a good little ol’ ball club, and I’m not taking anything away from them,&uot; NHS head coach Charlie Williams said. &uot;But we didn’t hit that (first) game. The bats are coming around. Everything seems like it’s falling into place for us.&uot;

The Bulldogs struck first against Franklin County with three runs in the second to give Kossum room to work. C.J. Wright led off with a single and scored on a single by Charles Cothern, and Aaron Ratliff’s two-out single scored Jason Hayes and Cothern for the 3-0 lead.

Franklin County cut the lead to 3-2 in the fifth before Natchez got one in the sixth and two more in the seventh. In the sixth Jason Hayes singled in Keymond Williams and in the seventh Ratliff walked, stole second and scored on a Joseph Hayes single.

ACCS 12, Bowling Green 0

MCCOMB &045; The Rebels took control by tacking on two runs in the third to take the five-inning win that also included a no-hitter from Glenn Williams.

In the fifth the Rebels scored six more runs thanks to six hits. Dustin Case doubled to score Jamie Morris and Ray Simpson, David Trisler singled Case in and Williams and Timmy Foster each singled in a run.

Williams faced 16 batters while striking out five and walking none.

ACCS 11, Columbia 4

MCCOMB &045; The Rebels started out that game hitting and put up a four-spot in the first inning to take a quick lead.

The Cougars answered with a run in the third off AC starter Matt Parson to cut the lead to 4-2, but in the bottom half Foster doubled but got thrown out trying to stretch it into a triple.

Monterey 10, St. Joseph’s 5

JONESVILLE, La. &045; The Wolves tacked on six in the second to blow the game open. Landon White bunted in a run, Chad Thomas singled in two runs and three more runs came across on an error for the 7-1 lead.
